Assistance League® of Greater Placer is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to serving people in need throughout Placer County, California.  Our aim is to transform lives and strengthen our community.  Working in conjunction with eighteen other community organizations, our 192 members share a wealth of talents and backgrounds that help us meet the needs of our citizens.

Our all-volunteer staffed thrift shop provides approximately 70% of Assistance League of Greater Placer's funding, with the rest coming from fundraisers such as Bingo, Big Day of Giving, annual sponsors, individual donations, and grants.

Its dedicated volunteers donated more than 40,000 service hours last year and made a difference in the lives of close to 8,000 under-served children and adults throughout Placer County.  We believe we can help our community flourish, one school child at a time, one family at a time, one homeless individual at a time, one assault survivor at a time, one scholarship recipient at a time, one forgotten senior at a time. We invite you to partner with us in the work we do to strengthen our community.

Mission

Assistance League volunteers are transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs.

Needs

School Clothing: Through our Operation School Bell program, we provide vouchers for school clothing for students, grades K-12, in 17 school districts in the greater Placer area. Money allotted depends on grade level. Every donation helps us provide more school age children the opportunity to succeed in their school environment.

School Shoes: Through our Feet Treat program, new shoes are provided to students who are referred to our chapter by elementary, middle, and high schools all over Placer County.

Literacy Enrichment: This program strives to put books into every second-grade child's hand in our Title 1 schools throughout the county.

Scholarships: Renewable financial aid and ongoing mentoring is provided to at risk alternative high school graduates who qualify. These scholarships will allow them to attend a community college or trade school in a wide range of subjects, opening the door for success in their lives.

Community Assistance: With additional financial resources, Assistance League of Greater Placer plans to reach more adults and children who experience an immediate crisis and receive one-time help to move their lives in a positive direction. Our new program “Drive to Thrive” supports safe car maintenance for survivors of abuse.

Dressing for Success: This program provides an adult community member with appropriate clothing to enter or re-enter the workforce and help them to move toward financial independence.

Equity Statement

Assistance League strives to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture that ensures every person belongs, is respected, and valued as themselves.
