Creating connections, inspiring collaboration, and cultivating community, the mission of the San Juan Education Foundation is to harness the combined power of philanthropy and partnership to propel student achievement and enrich the lives of educators. Founded in 1991, we provide support through Direct-to-Teacher Grants and a broad scholarship portfolio.

We envision a San Juan Unified School District where funding is not a barrier to equitable opportunity and access.

Fortunate to support a large school district serving families in Arden-Arcade, Carmichael, Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, and parts of Rancho Cordova and Sacramento, the San Juan Education Foundation partners with the schools and district, however, is an independent, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of 14 dedicated community, business, and education leaders with the professional expertise, knowledge of our community’s resources, and creativity necessary for an innovative approach to achieving our mission.  Our Board is committed to the highest level of financial stewardship as we use our resources for maximum benefit directly to the schools and students we serve.

Since 2006, we have awarded more than $800,000 in grants to teachers across the district.  While we are very proud of this number, we know there is much more work to do.  With your help, we can fund more grants, help more families, and support career and college readiness for all San Juan Unified students.

Mission

To harness the combined power of philanthropy and partnership to propel student achievement and enrich the lives of educators.

Needs

There's no denying it, arts education is integral for our children. "91 percent of Americans believe that the arts are vital to providing a well-rounded education." (https://www.americansforthearts.org/news-room/press-releases/americans-speak-out-about-the-arts-in-new-public-opinion-poll)

Californians put their money where their mouth is when we voted to approve Proposition 28, the Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act in November 2022. As those funds have begun rolling out through the San Juan Unified School District, the San Juan Education Foundation has been raising funds to support the purchase of arts education equipment and infrastructure to help advance arts education across the district.

In November 2023, we received a $135,000 grant to fund Direct-to-Teacher/School Grants for Arts Education infrastructure. As of May 2, 2024 we will have awarded $102,000 to 18 schools. However, there is an additional $100,000 in Arts Education Program grants waiting on funding.

Your gift today will support funding more art for more students across the San Juan Unified School District.

We strive to support and advance excellent education for all San Juan Unified students
