University Farm Circle was founded in Davis, California in 1914 by women associated with the Davis campus, which at time was called the University Farm. Today, members do not need to be connected with the University of California at Davis but they are supportive of our mission to assist UC Davis students. All are welcome!
We provide educational and social programs to our members and award scholarships to worthy UC Davis students. We have been providing scholarships since 1937. University Farm Circle has over 600 members who participate in newcomer activities, programs, interest sections, and special events to raise money for our scholarship funds.
Founded in 1914, University Farm Circle connects the University of California at Davis campus with the surrounding communities through friendship, enrichment, and scholarships.
Friendship: Welcomes newcomers to the university campus and community.
Enrichment: Provides programs and activities to meet the needs and interests of its members.
Scholarships: Assists students through scholarships.
This year the University Farm Circle awarded scholarships to 8 UC Davis students and 2 Yolo County high school students entering the University in the fall.
Consider that the cost of attending UC Davis is now over $42,000 a year. Even with Pell Grants, student loans, family assistance, and summer jobs, covering this amount is a challenge to many students.
Our recipients tell us that these scholarships can:
Help pay for tuition
Cover lab fees
Provide necessities such as rent and food
Purchase books and technology
Give a huge self-confidence boost
Most importantly, save the student hours of minimum wage work. At $16.50 an hour, it would take 254 hours to earn what a $4,200.00 scholarship can provide. That’s a lot of time that could be spent studying!
University Farm Circle supports students at the University Of California Davis through scholarships. In addition, the organization offers social networks through programs and events. All are welcome to join.
