The Sacramento Children’s Home is once again participating in Big Day of Giving, our region’s biggest 24-hour fundraising event. This year, we have a goal of $200,000 to support the urgent needs of the children and families in the Sacramento region.
All funds raised today will support our three highest needs programs: our Crisis Nursery, three Family Resource Centers, and our Residential Program. These programs promote child safety, positive parenting, education, and mental health, and improve the healthy functioning of families. We need your help to sustain these crucial services for the community.

ABOUT THE CRISIS NURSERY:
The Sacramento Children's Home operates the only Crisis Nursery in Sacramento County, which directly prevents child abuse and neglect by supporting families at times of crisis. Each year, the Crisis Nursery provides over 3,200 safe stays to children aged five and younger for up to thirty days at a time. During their child’s stay, parents are connected with community resources to help them get the help they need to resolve their temporary crisis and build a strong support system for the future. SCH’s Crisis Nursery relies on the generosity of our community to continue to offer free emergency childcare to the Sacramento region 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
ABOUT THE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERS:
The Sacramento Children’s Home operated three Family Resource Centers (FRCs), which help build strong families through education, intervention, and social support. With three thoughtfully placed locations in North Sacramento, Meadowview and Valley Hi, our FRCs offer home visitation, effective parenting workshops, domestic violence counseling, crisis intervention, housing guidance, school readiness, community events and so much more. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, our FRCs employ a “no wrong door” policy and never turn away a family in need.
ABOUT THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM:
The Sacramento Children’s Home provides intensive, 24/7 residential treatment through our Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). This program fills an invaluable niche in our community, providing trauma-informed treatment to young males aged six to nineteen who have experienced abuse or neglect and who may be at risk of causing harm to themselves or others. Each resident follows a focused treatment plan that addresses social skills, problem-solving, aggression management, independent living and more. By supporting this program, you are giving these residents the tools they need to live full, healthy, and productive lives.
