Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento (CRH)

A nonprofit organization

The Children's Receiving Home gives children their childhoods back. We provide youth in crisis, along with their families, tools to prevail over the challenges preventing them from leading happy, healthy lives. For over 80 years, CRH has been a beacon of hope for the Sacramento region and other communities in California; providing compassionate care for children and teens in plight who have nowhere else to turn. Many of the kids who arrive at our doors have experienced abuse, neglect, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. In addition to providing shelter, meals, and therapeutic recreation in an emotionally warm, safe and nurturing environment, we are known for our expertise in intensive mental-health treatment for traumatized and vulnerable kids aged 2-19.

CRH has recently launched our $1 million fundraising campaign, "Honoring a Legacy. Building Their Future." As the needs of youth and families change, we change with demand. This campaign will help strengthen our existing programs, and help launch new ones currently being developed, including one that assists youth transitioning out of foster care due to age.

This holiday season, we are launching our "Giving Tuesday: Open Hearts. Thriving Lives." holiday fundraising campaign. Our goal is to raise at least $25,000, all of which will funnel directly into our $1 million campaign. We are calling on our community to join us: Individuals, local institutions that culturally make The Greater Sacramento Area the incredible place it is, as well as corporate partners. Together, we can create opportunities for our most vulnerable community members, our youth, to thrive.

Giving Activity

Mission

The Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento is committed to positively impacting the lives of children, youth, and families affected by abuse, neglect, behavioral health issues, and trauma in California.

Needs

Monetary or gift card donations allow us the most flexibility to ensure we are meeting all our youths' needs.

Many of the youth who come to us require high levels of care, and every child has vastly different therapeutic needs. "Greatest Need" funding allows us to nimbly meet the needs of every youth under our care.

We regularly utilize art supplies (e.g., canvas, acrylic paints, easels, brushes, etc.) since all four of our programs practice art therapy. As well, we always need gift cards to support youth outings, fulfill birthday wishes and meet specific therapeutic needs.
