Adopt an Elder Foundation

Here at Adopt an Elder Foundation, we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2001, we have been determined to make an impact. Recognizing the enormity of the challenges our low-income seniors face, Adopt an Elder Foundation is dedicated to making a lasting impact through our program. While our efforts are driven by our organization's singular focus, providing a safe environment for our adoptees, we try a variety of strategies and tap into other community resources to keep our adoptees at home as long as they are safe and have some social interaction. Learn more about our initiatives and get involved yourself.

Mission

The core of our efforts is to provide financial and advocacy assistance to low-income, high-risk elders that afford them the opportunity for safe housing, proper nutrition, and healthcare access, so they can maintain an appropriate degree of independence and quality of life.

Needs

Currently, there are major deficits in the support network for elders and families facing difficult healthcare choices. Many low-income seniors are being diverted into skilled nursing facilities prematurely due to the shortfall of a few hundred dollars per month that would afford them assisted living options. Our program provides the funds that help fill that gap so that seniors can afford a more independent, dignified lifestyle in a home-like environment and save California taxpayers thousands of dollars per month.

We are looking for Board Members representing Sacramento, Placer, and Yolo county.

We are looking for volunteers to assist during our fundraising events and to collect/deliver Christmas gifts to our adoptees.

Donations to expand our programs and increase the number of our adoptees and keep our low-income seniors out of the streets and skilled nursing homes.

Donations for tablets and cell phones to ensure that our adoptees can connect with their families and community.
