Has the thought of a child without a birthday cake ever crossed your mind?

Unfortunately, it happens all the time, but Cake4Kids is changing that!

The youth we serve may be in foster care, in group homes, survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking, living in low-income housing with or without a parent, or even homeless. It may just be a cake, but the children we bake for, know that a stranger took the time and effort to do something special just for them.

Cake4Kids Mission Statement

We bake and deliver free birthday cakes for underserved children who might not otherwise receive one.

In a world where the basics of a positive childhood are often out of reach and youth have little to call their own, the seemingly simple gift of a birthday cake can make a huge impact by raising their self-esteem and confidence.

We partner with human and social services agencies to accomplish this mission.

How Does It Work?

Cake4Kids is powered by a small staff that coordinate all of the requests and an amazing and compassionate group of volunteers who donate all the ingredients and supplies to bake cakes for the youth in their own homes and then deliver them to our partner agencies who support the youth.

We have no minimum commitment — volunteers choose how often, and which cakes they want to bake!

Our volunteers never meet the children we support, but every cake is custom-made for each child and an enormous amount of love is baked into each one.

About the Sacramento Chapter:

The Sacramento Chapter was founded in July 2018. Since then we have grown to serve youth in Yolo, Placer, and El Dorado counties as well. In July 2024, we delivered our 3000th cake to a deserving youth in the area and in 2025 we expect to deliver over 1,000 more celebratory treats! Our work is entirely supported by enthusiastic and kind volunteers who donate their time and baking talents to fulfilling our mission.

-Volunteer bakers to bake and deliver birthday cakes to underserved youth.

-Donations to support chapter operating costs (centralized through our national headquarters)

-Donations from local businesses to support our annual silent auction in October 2025

-Expertise in fundraising, social media, donor outreach, and marketing to support chapter growth.

Equity Statement

All youth deserve to have a positive childhood, celebrate their birthdays and triumphs, and know they matter. It is our goal to ensure that every one of the youth we serve is made to feel equal.

Cake4Kids provides an indirect service to recipients through our partnerships with human and social services agencies. Through this model, our organization does not request or collect demographic information of the youth beyond age and gender and commits to supporting youth ages 1-24 regardless of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, and sexual orientation.
