Support Creatives, Shape Sacramento's Future!

We believe in creatives—the drivers of change in our world. When they’re lifted, celebrated, and empowered as individuals and as a community, they make the world more innovative, inclusive, beautiful, and soulful.

But creativity alone isn’t enough. Creatives must be healthy, financially stable, and fueled by a thriving community. Left to their own devices, they get lost in the work. They need connection, collaboration, and competition to push them further.

That’s where we come in. We educate, mentor, connect, inspire, and empower creatives—unlocking their potential within their careers, businesses, and communities.

When the creative ecosystem thrives, our entire region benefits.

From aspiring students honing their craft to experienced professionals making waves across industries, CCA is a haven for creatives at all stages of their creative journey.

We offer innovative programs tailored to community engagement and empowerment:

  • Ascenders Academy - A Mentorship Program for entry-level creative professionals to gain skills and community relationships that either take them to the next level of their careers or provide invaluable support to enter the workforce.
  • Creativity Speaks - Our acclaimed speaker series is more than just an event; it's a celebration of local talent and a catalyst for inspiration. From chefs to fashion designers, we spotlight the diverse voices shaping our creative landscape.
  • Design Internship Program - A semester-long program for students pursuing creative careers. Students gain practical career experience on a variety of design, marketing, fundraising, and research projects with our organization. They receive supervised, formal training, mentorships, networking opportunities, and a co-working membership at our headquarters, The Urban Hive.
  • Design Week Sacramento - An annual celebration of our community and business owners as a culmination of all our programming.
Throughout the week, we offer Lectures, Panels, Workshops, Networking Events, Studio Tours, and more. All events are hosted by our local design community to improve awareness of and access to the diverse careers that make up our creative economy. This year's Design Week will be our 7th year.
  • Membership Platform - Community members can access our resources, including our Job Board, event recordings, and our DEIA library, while connecting and networking with like-minded individuals to build their community.

Your donation will enable us to:

• Host the 10th annual Creativity Speaks series.

• Host the 7th annual Design Week Sacramento.

• Deepen existing partnerships and build new partnerships with fellow community-based organizations that support the Sacramento creative community.

• Improve and expand our professional development opportunities, which include our internship, mentorship, and volunteer programs.

• Grow our advocacy efforts to increase support of the creative sector.

Join us as we continue to champion creativity, spark innovation, and build a brighter future for Sacramento and beyond!

Mission

Our mission is to connect and empower the Sacramento creative community.

Needs

We need to improve our organizational capacity so that our systems and processes are built in a way that we can all thrive in our organization, and that our organization can continue to thrive.

We also need sustainable funding that will allow us to appropriately pay our staff, pay our speakers and event hosts, and to pay the creatives that we work with.

With our current funding, we are only able to host the internship program for one semester a year. Our goal is to host the program for both the Spring and Fall semesters.

Equity Statement

We aim to champion and inspire the creative community to build a thriving Sacramento Region. We create awareness of, and accessibility to, design paths and the regional workforce. We empower creative professionals from various communities, identities, and experiences to create a stronger and more creative environment and build a network of mutuality. We believe everyone is an expert based on their lived experiences, and we all have unique and illuminating contributions to bring to the creative process and our larger community. We implement free or sliding scale programming to include inclusive opportunities for underrepresented youth and emerging BIPOC and LGBTQ+ designers.

Our effectiveness depends on diverse partnerships, achieving just and equitable relationships that cultivate mutually respectful engagement. Internally, our organization takes the relational approach to our various initiatives: job placement, education and workforce programs, community outreach and networking. Promoting diversity both within and beyond CCA, in our leadership and in the members and partners we work with, is critical to upholding our values and achieving our goals toward a dynamic and equitable future.
