Established in Davis’ award-winning Central Park, the gardens are maintained by a volunteer-led nonprofit organization, Central Park Gardens of Davis, in partnership with the City of Davis. Our volunteers strive to create beautiful demonstration gardens and engaging educational programs that will motivate local gardeners to adopt more sustainable gardening practices.
Thanks to generous community donations and dedicated volunteer effort, we are proud to demonstrate climate adaptation best practices in Central Park Gardens. By featuring drip irrigation and a broad diversity of native, drought tolerant, and edible plants, our aim is to share ideas and inspiration for creating beautiful and resilient gardens across the region. In recognition of our ongoing sustainability efforts, we were honored to receive the City of Davis Environmental Legacy Award in 2019.
Our community volunteers continue to be a tremendous example of how a diverse group of people can come together, inspired by a shared mission, to make a difference. Together we create and maintain a beautiful public space for all to enjoy. We exemplify the best qualities of a resilient volunteer-driven organization.
