For 49 years, Child Action has been dedicated to ensuring every child in the Sacramento region has access to quality early childhood education and care. We provide financial assistance, resources, and advocacy to support families and childcare providers.

📌 What We Do:

  • Helping Families Find Childcare: We offer free child care referrals to all families living or working in Sacramento County. (14,278 families and 13,468 children served in 2023-24).
  • Helping Families Pay for Childcare: We administer Sacramento County’s largest childcare subsidy program, supporting income-eligible families so parents can work, attend school, or receive training. (More than 9,088 families and 16,841 children received subsidies last year)
  • Supporting Childcare Providers: We help providers navigate licensing, training, and business operations to increase the number of childcare seats in Sacramento. (In 2023-24, we helped create 1,755 new childcare spaces.)

By investing in our community, we help shape a stronger, more equitable future for children while supporting the backbone of our economy—childcare providers and working families.

Needs

This year, we’re launching the Child Action Grant Fund, a first-of-its-kind initiative to directly support childcare providers and families in Sacramento. Your donation will help:

✅ Open new daycare homes and centers to increase childcare access.

✅ Improve or expand existing childcare facilities to serve more families.

✅ Provide high-quality STEM and literacy curricula, including AI-supported learning programs.

✅ Equip childcare homes and centers with essential STEM learning tools and reading materials.

✅ Fund university and community college students conducting early childhood education research to drive innovation in childcare.
