Equity Statement

At Color The Block, we are committed to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our organization’s work. We recognize that equitable access to resources and opportunities is essential for building thriving communities and promoting social justice.

Through partnerships with organizations like the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Community Garden Project and Worldreader’s Agricultural Literacy Program, we strive to address systemic inequities and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate in our programs and initiatives.

The $300,000 grant from CDFA’s Community Garden Project enables us to expand access to community gardening spaces, particularly in underserved neighborhoods, and provide resources and support to individuals who may face barriers to participation. This funding allows us to create inclusive environments where people of all backgrounds can connect with nature, grow healthy food, and build community.

Similarly, the $5,000 grant from Worldreader’s Agricultural Literacy Program supports our efforts to promote agricultural literacy and education among youth and families. By engaging with agricultural practices and learning about food production, we aim to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health, nutrition, and environmental sustainability.

Additionally, with leased space of .4 acres for our community garden, we can provide a welcoming and accessible environment for individuals of all backgrounds to come together, cultivate their own food, and engage in meaningful community-building activities.

Through these partnerships and initiatives, Color The Block is dedicated to advancing equity and social justice, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and participate fully in our programs and projects. We remain committed to listening to and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, centering their needs and experiences in our work, and advocating for meaningful change at the local and systemic levels.

Together, we can build a more equitable and inclusive future where all individuals have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
