Needs
CommuniCare+OLE relies on their donors to ensure that we can continue our vital work and fight the health disparities facing our community's most vulnerable. While we are federally funded as a Community Health Center and Migrant Health Center, the real cost of providing comprehensive care to our patients vastly exceeds this level of funding, and the gap grows wider every year. Our wraparound services, including programs aimed at increasing access to care and combating health disparities, are a lifeline for our patients, but many are not covered at all.
Your philanthropy has a direct impact on the lives and community we serve, allowing us to go far beyond the bare minimum of care to improve outcomes and provide a welcoming medical home no matter the circumstance.
Urgent funding priorities include:
• Smile Savers program, which provides in-school oral health education and basic dental services to children, with the goal of preventing costly and irreversible tooth and gum disease in adulthood.
• Mobile Medicine, serving unhoused individuals and seasonal agricultural workers. The van operates 12 hours a week rotating between Davis, Woodland, West Sacramento, and the Capay Valley.
• Food As Medicine program, providing nutrition education and empowers patients to grow, access, and prepare healthy food in our clinic-based garden as part of our chronic disease management and prevention efforts.
• Perinatal program, which includes comprehensive services for prenatal and postpartum care; and provides free of charge car seats, baby carriers, and baby wraps to new parents.
• Primary care services for uninsured patients.
In-Kind Donations
CommuniCare+OLE also appreciates and accepts many types of donated goods, including new, in the box infant car seats or pregnancy support garments/ belly bands (new or clean/used), which we provide to low-income families in our perinatal program. Please contact us at 530-603-7112 or donate@communicareole.org to arrange for dropping off donated items.
Volunteers
The contributions of volunteers - health care providers, community volunteers, and learners such as medical residents, interns, externs, and students - have been essential since our beginnings as an all-volunteer run organization in 1972. If you are interested in donating your time to support the health of our community, please contact us at volunteer@communicarehc.org.
