Since 1978, DOVIA Sacramento has served to broaden community awareness of volunteerism by furthering communication among DOVIA Sacramento, its member agencies and institutions, and the general public. DOVIA Sacramento membership is open to any person, salaried or volunteer, whose primary job responsibility within any agency or organization, public or private, is that of directing, coordinating or conducting the volunteer program of said agency or organization, and others interested in furthering volunteerism. Membership categories include individual, agency, student, and retiree.

It has been 47 years since people with foresight decided that there needed to be an organization for networking and training of volunteer managers. On November 6, 1978, March Fong Eu, then-Secretary of State signed the Articles of Incorporation making the Directors of Volunteers in Agencies, Sacramento (DOVIA) an official agency.

DOVIA Sacramento has changed with the times in both size and function. DOVIA Sacramento today has a variety of agency members, more meetings, and a larger Executive Board which basically does all the work of planning and executing events that benefit volunteer managers. The board partially changes personnel yearly and is totally responsible for providing an educational year for DOVIA Sacramento members.

Giving Activity

Mission

DOVIA Sacramento provides a forum for exchange of information on relevant issues for professional volunteer managers and leaders of volunteers. Through collaborative efforts, DOVIA Sacramento is committed to promoting service and emphasizing professional growth and development of the volunteer administration profession.

Needs

The DOVIA Sacramento Board is responsible for implementation of the goals and mission, as well as the continuity and growth, of the DOVIA Sacramento organization. As an all-volunteer 501c3 organization, DOVIA Sacramento's success and viability depends on the time and effort of its Board and Committees.

Funding is required to support virtual and in-person trainings, conferences, and forums pertaining to best practices in volunteer management and related topics. In addition, we see a need to support the newest volunteer managers in our region. Many of our members and program participants are new to the field and are looking for volunteer administration professional training courses. Our educational offerings assist Sacramento area volunteer professionals and volunteer leaders to share the same vision when utilizing volunteers in service to Sacramento area communities.

Funds are needed to support annual subscriptions for website/database, Zoom, Google Voice, QuickBooks, and other virtual technologies that allow us to maintain the organization's infrastructure in the most affordable and efficient manner possible.
