$5,000 Goal

Engineers Without Borders USA (EWB-USA) partners with communities around the world to meet their basic human needs. The EWB-Sacramento Valley Professional Chapter has helped over 5,000 people by providing engineering services to international communities in Belize, Kenya, South Africa, and Gambia as well as the local community in Roseville. We have a positive impact by partnering with communities to provide clean accessible water, agricultural irrigation, wastewater treatment, drainage infrastructure, and roadway improvements. Help us further our impact by supporting us!

Active Projects

We are working on two active projects: (1) a latrine project to improve the sanitation and health of the Enoc Ortez community in Nicaragua and (2) a water supply project in Nankumba, Malawi will provide clean drinking water source to a village of 600 people. We are also supporting the transition of a potable water delivery Tranquilla Norte project in Panama to the EWB-San Francisco Professional Chapter.

Mission

EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders.

EWB-Sacramento Professional Chapter supports the EWB-USA mission with our local and international projects.

Needs

We are in need of funding to support our two active projects and to build capacity for more domestic (local) projects:

(1) Enoc Ortez, Nicaragua - a latrine project to improve the sanitation and health of the community. The Project Team travelled to Nicaragua in April 2023 to start constructing two above-ground dual pit composting latrines. Currently 7 out of 25 latrines are built, but we need your help to continue our efforts! Each latrine costs ~$2,000.

(2) Nankumba, Malawi - provide 4 clean drinking water sources to a village of 600 people. The success of this project will allow the expansion of the water supply source to over 7,000 people in neighboring villages. The first borehole is being constructed in 2024 and fundraising is needed to construct the second borehole in 2025. Each borehole costs ~$8,000 USD for all materials and labor.
