Since July, 1985 FosterHope Sacramento has been providing services for El Dorado, Placer, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento Counties. For almost 40 years FosterHope has directly impacted the lives of youth and families within the greater Sacramento region providing care, community and support. FosterHope’s vision is to help heal the effects of trauma and end the cycle of abuse, and poverty, by building on the strengths of children and families so they find safety, hope, and success in life.

FosterHope serves a diverse population of youth ranging from infancy to adulthood between the ages of (0-21) and their families. We work with youth impacted by both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems; specializing in youth with complex trauma histories.

As a California licensed, 501(c)(3) nonprofit Foster Family Agency (FFA), we engage with children, youth, and families every day to learn about their needs and to foster hopes, dreams, connection, and community. Through providing an array of foster care and family support services we are able to help children, youth, and families achieve stability and success by providing opportunities for support and connection tailored to their needs and strengths.

In recent years we have expanded our programs and services to offer deeper levels of support to our children, youth, and families through mentorship, authentic youth engagement, and mental health support.

Mission

Our mission is to provide support to children, teens, and families and facilitate healing of the spirit, mind, and body to help them reach their fullest potential through an array of foster care and family support services.

Needs

FosterHope works to fill gaps in service for system impacted youth. We are currently focused on increasing our agency’s capacity to support children and youth in the greater Sacramento Region with complex trauma and mental health needs.

How your contribution helps:

FosterHope is raising funds to support the growth and implementation of our mental health program. Funds raised help us meet a variety of needs for the children, youth and families we serve.

Specific areas of support include:

- Incentives and celebrations for youth to encourage continuous participation in programs and activities that promote healing.

- Basic needs like food, housing support, clothing, hygiene products for youth and families experiencing hardship or transitions in life stage.

- Support for youth to secure essential documents like birth certificates, social security cards, and driver's licenses to help them secure employment.

- Therapeutic tools and technology to promote positive mental health.

- Tools to support youth’s academic success.

- Furniture for our new offices to provide a comfortable and welcoming space for youth to receive support and connection.

- Family outings to promote connection and promote positive experiences for youth in a family setting.

- Pro-social activities that allow youth to explore different interests like sports, arts, community service, and academics, while developing positive relationships with others in community-based settings.

- Training and workshops for caregivers to ensure they have the tools to support and grow with the youth in their care.

- Recruitment efforts for our Enhanced Care program that addresses the needs of our most vulnerable youth in the foster care system.

- Outreach to our community to support our efforts to prevent instances of childhood trauma before formal system involvement.

Equity Statement

FosterHope Sacramento (FHS) is committed to ensuring an equitable and fair outcome for all children. FHS’s program staff and managers strive to increase their understanding of cultural differences and to develop competence in working with children and families with cultural backgrounds different from their own. Members and staff strive to understand the impact of racial and ethnic differences that may contribute to the disproportionate representation of children and families of color in the child welfare system.

FHS respects and supports the ethnic identity and cultural diversity of the children and families it serves and seeks to provide culturally relevant services and to prevent discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sexual identity, sexual orientation or disability in every aspect of service delivery.
