Grassroots Healthcare Foundation (GHF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Full Spectrum Primary Care to vulnerable populations who cannot afford traditional healthcare or seek personalized medical experiences. Mission

At Grassroots Healthcare Foundation, our mission is to transform the human condition by providing whole-person healthcare to vulnerable populations. We foster a community that nurtures love, joy, peace, and kindness while helping everyone live their full purpose. Together, we can change the world one person at a time.

In August 2021, the sudden evacuation of Afghanistan led to the displacement of approximately 150,000 Afghans to the USA, many of whom had supported U.S. troops. Recognizing the urgent need for comprehensive healthcare services among these refugees, the Grassroots Healthcare Foundation (GHF) partnered with Healing Grove to establish the Afghan Refugee Clinic in July 2022.

Our mission is to provide holistic care that addresses the physical, mental, and social health of Afghan refugees.

Health Care... Soul Care...Culture care.

By collaborating with Afghan community leaders, we ensure that our services are culturally sensitive and effectively meet the unique needs of this population.

Patients and their families are enrolled in the Direct Primary Care program at no cost, granting them open access to high quality healthcare.

This initiative aims to support Afghan refugees in their resettlement journey, providing them with the healthcare and support they need to thrive in their new communities.

Needs

To effectively serve Afghan refugees, our clinic requires the following resources:

1. Translators in Pashto and Dari: Proficient translators are essential to bridge language barriers, ensuring clear communication between healthcare providers and patients. This facilitates accurate diagnoses and culturally sensitive care.

2. Licensed Healthcare Staff Volunteers: Volunteer doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals are needed to deliver comprehensive medical services. Their expertise is vital in addressing the diverse health concerns of refugees. Retired professionals are very welcome.

3. Medical Equipment and Supplies: Access to diagnostic tools, treatment instruments, and disposable supplies.

4. Volunteer Coordinator: A dedicated coordinator is essential to manage volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling, ensuring efficient clinic operations and optimal patient care.

5. Trauma Specialists and Counselors: Many refugees have experienced significant trauma. Mental health professionals specializing in trauma can provide critical support.

6. Referral Sources for Dental Care: Establishing partnerships with dental care providers ensures refugees receive necessary oral health services, which are integral to overall well-being.

Equity Statement

At the Grassroots Healthcare Foundation, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual is treated with dignity and respect. Guided by principles that emphasize compassion and justice, we strive to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, or any other characteristic. We believe that every human being is created unique and valuable. Diversity enriches our community and enhances the quality of care we provide. Through continuous reflection and action, we aim to uphold these values in every aspect of our work.
