$10,000 Goal

The Heroic Girls Foundation is a pop culture based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that advocates for better representation of women and girls in movies, television, books, comics and other mass media in order to combat harmful gender norms that hold women and girls back in the real world. We are dedicated to improving the representation of women and girls within popular culture to help create greater equality between genders in the real world. We envision a world where women are represented on the screen and page in proportion to their representation in the population at large. In short, we want women and girls to have half: Half the roles in Hollywood blockbusters; half the protagonists in children’s literature; half the screenwriting and directing gigs; and half the spoken lines on television.

Mission

The Heroic Girls Foundation is dedicated to empowering young girls and women by promoting positive female role models in media, education, and the community. We strive to inspire girls to be confident, courageous, and compassionate, and to challenge gender stereotypes and inequality. Through our programs, partnerships, and advocacy, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable world where every girl has the opportunity to be a hero.

The Be A Hero Scholarship program, a part of the Heroic Girls Foundation, is committed to supporting the education and career aspirations of girls and young women who demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive difference in their communities. We believe that every girl deserves access to opportunities that will enable her to reach her full potential and achieve her dreams. Through our scholarship awards and mentorship program, we aim to empower the next generation of female heroes and change-makers.

Needs

The Heroic Girls Foundation is proud to announce the launch of our inaugural female scholarship program. We are embarking on a significant endeavor that can only be achieved with your valuable support and assistance.

Our "Be a Hero" scholarship aims to aid female students pursuing degrees in film, journalism, or media production. It recognizes and encourages young women who are striving to enhance the representation of women and girls in pop-culture media.

Each scholarship will be awarded in $250 increments, with a plan to award at least two scholarships annually. However, with your generous contribution, we can extend the number of scholarships and the amount awarded.

To accomplish this, we need to raise a minimum of $10,000. Though it may seem daunting, we appreciate every little bit of support, and our Board of Directors has pledged a $1,000 matching fund to commence the initiative. Your donations will have a more significant impact, thanks to this initial contribution.

Equity Statement

The Heroic Girls Foundation and the Be A Hero Scholarship Program are committed to creating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging. We recognize that systemic oppression and marginalization exist and are committed to addressing these issues. We believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities to achieve their full potential, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, or ability.

We strive to provide equitable access to our programs and services, and to create an environment that is welcoming and supportive of all individuals. We recognize the unique challenges faced by historically marginalized communities and are committed to ensuring that our programs and services are accessible and responsive to the needs of these communities.

We recognize that equity requires ongoing effort and commitment. We are dedicated to listening to and learning from our community, and to continuously improving our programs and services to better serve everyone.

We believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to our mission of empowering girls and women to be heroes in their own lives and in the world. We are committed to creating a culture of respect, compassion, and understanding, and to working together to build a more equitable and just society for all.
