At Housing El Dorado, we believe that homelessness is a complex issue that cannot be addressed with a one-size-fits-all solution. Effective homelessness services must be diverse, offering tailored solutions for individuals and families, regardless of their past experiences. These services should be personalized, incorporating case management and goal-setting processes that empower clients to take an active role in their progress, while receiving consistent support from their case managers. By focusing on the unique needs of each person and fostering collaboration, we can help create pathways out of homelessness that are both sustainable and meaningful.
Housing El Dorado has 2 primary goals:
First, we want to provide support services for those experiencing homelessness. These support services include:
Our Pathways Street Outreach Program in order to engage individuals experiencing homelessness, and connect them with community services for which they may be eligible;
Our Pathways Emergency Fund provides one-time funding to prevent or resolve homelessness and covers expenses like rental arrears, application fees, hold deposits, and more;
Our Pathways Inclement Weather Lodging Program (IWLP)
which provides emergency shelter over the winter when temperatures drop below 35*F (or 45*F if there is precipitation).
Our Critical Mobile Home Repair Project which provides low-income seniors living in mobile homes the opportunity to make health and safety-related repairs that will ultimately prevent their homelessness due to the breakdown of their housing.
Second, we approach homelessness from the systematic cause: the lack of affordable housing. We advocate for affordable housing in our community: low-cost housing options (such as ADUs), traditional affordable housing, and conversion of dilapidated properties to modern affordable housing.
