Equity Statement
At The Lionheart Community, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where all individuals, regardless of ability, background, or circumstance, have access to opportunities for connection, growth, and adventure. We recognize that systemic barriers often limit participation for people living with paralysis and other disabilities, and we actively work to dismantle these barriers through advocacy, education, and accessible programming.
Our commitment to equity means:
Access & Inclusion: We design our programs, events, and resources to be fully accessible, ensuring that individuals with physical disabilities, their families, and caregivers can engage in meaningful experiences without limitations.
Representation & Leadership: We prioritize the voices of those with lived experience, empowering individuals with disabilities to take leadership roles in shaping our initiatives and Peer Leadership Programs.
Community & Collaboration: We work alongside hospitals, disability organizations, and local partners to expand opportunities and advocate for policies that promote disability rights and inclusion. Additionally, we collaborate with the City and County of Sacramento to provide firsthand lived experience input in their upcoming ADA projects, ensuring that accessibility improvements truly meet the needs of the community.
Continuous Learning & Growth: We are dedicated to ongoing reflection and improvement, listening to feedback from our community to ensure our initiatives are responsive, relevant, and equitable.
Equity is at the heart of our mission, driving our work to create a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
