$50,000 Goal

Make-A-Wish began in 1980, after seven-year-old Chris Greicius, who had leukemia, wished to be a police officer for a day in his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona. Because those involved saw firsthand just how powerful the experience was for Chris, they decided to create the same magic for other children with critical medical conditions by forming Make-A-Wish.

Founded in 1983, Make-A-Wish Northeastern & Central California has granted more than 10,000 wishes. All funds generated by the chapter are used to fulfill wishes for children in our territory. For many, having a wish granted marks a turning point in the fight against their illness.

Mission

Together, we can create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Needs

Funding for wishes - the average cash cost of a wish is $15,000.

In-kind donations for wishes.

Help us grant more wishes to children with critical illnesses in the region.

Referrals. All our wishes start with a referral. You can refer a child at ncc.wish.org/refer-a-child.

We need wish granting, event, and office volunteers to help us grant wishes.

Equity Statement

Make-A-Wish is committed to championing diversity, equity and inclusion, fostering an organization that is accessible and welcoming. In turn, we are uniting communities to help make more wishes possible.

• Our mission is most effectively fulfilled through a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as core values and practice.

• It is only through our mosaic of different cultures, perspectives and experiences that we can grant life-changing wishes to every eligible child.

• As the world's largest wish-granting organization, we stand against racism and intolerance and are committed to representation and acceptance, creating a sense of belonging, and practicing fairness in creating opportunities for our wish families, volunteers and staff.
