Meadowview Urban Tree Project

A nonprofit organization

The area of South Sacramento is lacking a robust urban tree canopy, particularly when compared to other areas of Sacramento. The Meadowview Urban Tree Project is a community based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, 100% volunteer, dedicated to getting more trees in the ground in South Sacramento, as well as activating and educating the community to foster and maintain our urban canopy.

We have organized neighborhood plantings, assisted with plantings organized by other groups, and tabled at numerous community events. We have had funded programs to incentive homeowners who have had trees blown down over the past several winters to replant trees by offering free stump grindings. We lend tools to homeowners who wish to maintain their trees. An exciting avenue that we are pursuing is partnering with the Sacramento City Unified School District with tree plantings and events to help educate and incentivize the school community on the benefits of trees.
