The Northern California Herpetological Society was established in 1982 and is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting the well-being of reptiles and amphibians through Education, Conservation, and Rehabilitation.
NCHS is dedicated to providing information and increasing public knowledge about the proper care and husbandry of reptiles and amphibians in captivity. We strive to achieve this goal through our educational monthly meetings and community outreach events. Monthly meetings are free, open to the public and hosted for those interested in herpetology!
We give out yearly Conservation Grants to students of all ages to aide in their pursuit of research projects that coincide with our mission statement. We give grants to students all the way from Kindergarten all the way up to PhD Candidates!
We run a successful Adoptions and Rehabilitation wing of the organization as well. We bring in a variety of reptiles and amphibians, for many reasons. We then get them medical attention if needed, and work to find forever homes for them!
