Established in 1995, OCA Sacramento is one of OCA's 50+ chapters and affiliates around the country with programs and initiatives that work to advance the OCA mission statement. OCA Sacramento Chapter is a membership driven organization of community advocates that strives to meet the current and evolving needs of a diverse population, with a focus on developing advocacy, strong leadership, and civic engagement participations of AAPIs in the greater Sacramento region. In 2020, OCA Sacramento celebrated 25 years of cultural awareness, advocacy, and leadership development advancing our mission to embrace the hopes and aspirations of Asian Pacific Americans.
The mission of OCA Sacramento - Asian Pacific American Advocates is to advance the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).
With over 33 community programs provided in 2020, unrestricted funding allows us to allocate resources to programs that address the needs in our community from mental health awareness, caregiving, food scarcity, health education, and anti-AAPI hate crime education and response. In response to COVID-19 and the unprecedented time that we are in, we are committed to continue serving our AAPI communities and the challenges they face.
Advocacy Outreach - We will be proactive in providing community education and expanding our outreach in civic engagement through implementing a voter registration drive, and encouraging the community to become actively engaged in the advocacy process.
