Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy (PCLEC) was founded by a group of pastors and volunteers organized in 1977 at the request of the Sheriff to serve the needs of law enforcement. It became incorporated as a 501(c)(3) agency in 1986. PCLEC serves the Roseville Police Department, Rocklin Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Auburn Police Department, State of California Parks & Recreation Dept., the Placer County District Attorney, and County and State Probation Departments. We also serve the Placer County Sheriff's Office and their large geographical area covering 1,502 square miles, serving 410,327 citizens, and spanning from Roseville up to and including the Truckee /Tahoe Basin. We also serve the First Responders for Placer County including Four Municipal Fire Departments, Cal Fire, and AMR.
We come alongside and support the mental health professionals of the Placer County School Districts, serving with compassion and confidentiality when traumatic events within the schools affect both the students and staff. Placer County Law Enforcement Chaplaincy participates with the high schools and middle schools for their alcohol and drug prevention programs, Every Fifteen Minutes and the Right Choice; both with logistical support and teaching opportunities. PCLEC assists businesses and community organizations with support and grief resources, including Critical Incident Stress Debriefs when tragedy strikes and those businesses or groups are impacted by the trauma.
PCLEC volunteers are trained in trauma informed care, Law Enforcement procedure and culture, and crisis intervention for citizens and the Law Enforcement Community. The chaplaincy is governed by a board of directors, which oversees its fiscal integrity and monitors its planning and policy. Members of the board of directors are taken from a cross-section of the community and are comprised of law enforcement personnel, pastors, and business owners. The board includes corporate officers acting as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Chaplaincy is staffed by a full time Senior Chaplain/Executive Director, a full time Deputy Senior Chaplain and a part time office manager. Currently, in addition to the above-mentioned paid staff, there are 37 volunteer Chaplains.
