Unique and inspiring, the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera has reclaimed its place as one of the region's leading performing arts organizations. In the past six years, the SP&O has made tremendous artistic, community, and fiscal strides through a business model that has solidly moved from one of instability to one of stability.
An exciting new addition in leadership is the appointment of Ari Pelto as our Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor. A frequent guest conductor with a special connection and dedication to the Sacramento community, our musicians, and patrons, Ari has been selected as SP&O’s artistic leader through the 2025-2026 Season to shape our artistic profile and provide regularity with the baton. We are lucky to have someone who is currently in demand in opera houses and symphony orchestras across the United States committed to Sacramento arts and culture and our musicians.
Today, the SP&O serves as a vibrant cultural community asset -- one that is shaped by Sacramento, whose offerings are uniquely of Sacramento, and whose vision for the future is designed for Sacramento. The SP&O continues its stellar concerts, operas, and community engagement programs that bring the passion of classical music to schools, hospitals, shelters, and more. We look forward to continuing down the path of sustainability in which the last years have laid the foundation. Together, we can work to expand the boundaries of what a performing arts organization can be and the impact it can have in a growing, thriving community.
