Needs
The Sierra Community Medical Foundation (SCMF) has identified unrestricted funding as a key priority to ensure we can respond to the most pressing needs in our community. These funds provide critical flexibility, allowing us to direct resources where they are needed most and make an immediate, meaningful impact. Key areas of focus include:
1. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)
SCMF is committed to addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences, which can have long-term effects on physical and mental health. By tackling social determinants of health—such as access to education, housing stability, food security, and healthcare—we aim to break cycles of trauma, improve resilience, and create healthier futures for children and families in our communities.
2. Opioid and Fentanyl Safety Coalition
With the rise in opioid and fentanyl-related crises, SCMF is actively working to increase awareness, prevention, and intervention strategies. Our coalition collaborates with community partners to provide education, distribute resources, and promote harm reduction practices. We are dedicated to saving lives and supporting individuals and families affected by substance use.
Unrestricted funding allows SCMF to strengthen these initiatives and adapt to emerging challenges, ensuring we can effectively serve the most vulnerable members of Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties. By investing in these critical areas, we can continue to improve health outcomes, promote community resilience, and create lasting change.
