Established in 2006 as a non-profit charitable organization, Team Davis currently serves approximately 170 participants aged 6 to 60 years old and relies on about 90 regular volunteers. We offer 11 different sports during the year including basketball, swimming, track and field, long distance running, soccer, softball, bocce, bowling, golf, tennis, and flag football. We also hold weekly art classes, nutrition classes in collaboration with UC Davis Nutrition Department and singing practices. Our Team Davis singers have begun performing out in the community, holding regular Hootenannies. They also work with a professional musician to write their own songs. The videos of our singers performing these songs are posted on our website. We have a large vegetable garden on the UC Davis campus which is thriving.
We provide regular Parent Education Forums where families learn from experts and each other about issues related to supporting their sons and daughters. We have added in a new Juniors Program that has brought 30 new families with 6–12-year-olds into Team Davis. The Davis Rebekahs Lodge hosts dinner dances for our adults as well as provides fun activities for our Juniors. And finally, we have added an exciting new technology class about online safety and robotics, taught by our Communications Director.
Team Davis partners with a number of local organizations to offer our sports and activities. Our partners include Special Olympics of Northern California, the City of Davis Adaptive Recreation program, True Connections, UC Davis Campus Recreation, Best Buddies, UC Davis Special Olympics Club, the Davis Rebekahs and Odd Fellows Lodges, and Yolo People First.
