VITA Academy seeks to sustain and grow music’s relevance in our region by partnering with musicians, non-profits, and schools to create innovative concert and educational programs.

VITA Academy fulfills its mission through three concurrent programs:
1. Youth Education Programs: Inaugurating instrumental and vocal instruction based on novel methods that promote development of life skills and teamwork in at-risk populations.
2. Internship Programs: Assisting emerging young performers (collegiate and post-collegiate) to develop skills for presentation, pedagogy, public engagement, and arts advocacy in formats that serve their community and establish a successful career path.
3. Performances: Partnering with other area organizations and artists to offer professional quality instrumental and vocal performances in formats that engage new audiences with innovative programs.

Mission

VITA Academy seeks to sustain and grow music's relevance in our region by partnering with musicians, non-profits, and schools to create innovative concert and education programs - utilizing its programs to develop emerging professional musicians to become effective teaching artists - equipped to educate and advocate as well as perform.

Needs

Funding to expand current programs and seek new opportunities, including Violin Junior Academy at St. Patrick's Academy and the Four Freedoms Youth Arts Competition.

Specifically, funding is sought to purchase violins and instructional materials and provide expanding instruction for 5th to 8th grade violin students on Sacramento's South Side.

Funding is also sought to allow us to repeat our Four Freedoms Reimagined Youth Art Competition. Its first iteration awarded cash prizes and a Crocker exhibition to more than a dozen school-age visual and performing artists from our regions.

Other VITA programs include the Great Composers Chamber Music Series, Youth Chamber Music Workshops and CalCap Chamber Music Workshop.

Additional funding is needed to meet the growing overhead costs of insurance and supplies, while sustaining and expanding our dynamic programs.

We are a volunteer organization and welcome those who would like to join in our efforts.

VITA Academy is dedicated to removing barriers – economic, cultural, geographic and others - to the creation and experience of the arts by all, and to creating welcoming environments for those of traditionally underserved communities.

We recruit for diversity in all aspects of our programs, including institutional leadership, program leadership, teaching artists, programming, participants and audience.

In our programs focusing on youth, we strive to address equity in the arts now – thus building solutions for the future.
