Zion Girls Leadership & Collegiate Preparatory Academy Mentoring Program

Program Overview:

The Zion Girls Leadership & Collegiate Preparatory Academy Mentoring Program is an immersive and transformative 8-month journey designed to empower girls aged 13-17 with the skills, mindset, and support system necessary for personal, academic, and community success. Rooted in the academy's mission and vision, this program is tailored to guide young women with incarcerated parents toward successful integration into society while instilling biblical principles and fostering Godly characteristics.

Program Structure:

  1. Monthly Pillars of Progress: The program is structured around eight pillars, each representing a crucial aspect of personal and academic development: Persevere, Reach Higher, Overcome Challenges, Grow and Evolve, Reflect, Embrace Change, Stay Focused, and Strive for Success.

  2. Diverse Learning Modules: Each month, participants engage in a variety of activities, including goal-setting workshops, resilience training, career exploration, personal growth seminars, and community service projects. These modules are designed to address specific aspects of the chosen pillar.

  3. Mentorship Circles: Throughout the program, mentees are paired with experienced and successful professionals who serve as mentors. These mentors provide guidance, support, and real-world insights to help mentees navigate challenges and achieve their goals.

  4. Practical Application: The program emphasizes practical application, encouraging mentees to apply learned skills in community service projects, outdoor adventures, and collaborative mentor-mentee projects. These experiences enhance their understanding and capabilities.

  5. Reflection and Journaling: Regular reflection sessions and journaling activities provide mentees with a dedicated space to contemplate their personal growth, challenges faced, and successes achieved. This reflective practice contributes to a deeper understanding of themselves and their journey.

  6. Vision Board Exercise: An interactive and creative vision board exercise enables mentees to visually articulate their personal and academic goals, fostering a tangible connection to their aspirations.

  7. Cohort Succession Plan: To ensure continuity and sustained impact, the program incorporates a cohort succession plan, allowing each group to build upon the achievements and lessons of the previous cohort.

Expected Impact:

By the end of the program, participants are anticipated to experience significant personal growth, develop leadership skills, establish a supportive community, and acquire the tools needed to navigate life's challenges. The holistic approach, incorporating mentorship, practical application, and reflection, aligns with the academy's vision of educating and empowering girls to positively impact their lives and communities, ultimately becoming game changers and great contributors to society.
