Itsie Bitsie Rescue (IBR) began with a mother-daughter team—Pam and Danielle—doing community service as part of a junior high class requirement. The duo continued their work even after Danielle joined the California Army National Guard and was stationed at their headquarters, which was just around the corner from the old Sacramento County shelter. Danielle frequently found and brought home baby kittens for foster care and later returned them to the shelter for adoption.

In July 2006, Itsie Bitsie Rescue was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization. By March 2011, IBR began to grow, adding more fosters each year, which allowed us to increase our intake from 70-80 kittens annually to over 600 animals annually in 2024.

One thing has never changed: Everyone in the IBR family is a volunteer—there are no paid staff members.

Giving Activity

Mission

At Itsie Bitsie Rescue, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are dedicated to rescuing orphaned newborn kittens and puppies under 6 weeks of age, primarily from local shelters and compassionate Good Samaritans. Our mission is to provide these fragile babies with the care and nurturing they need to thrive.

Needs

Monetary donations allow us to cover costs of veterinary visits, prescription medicines, food, vaccines, microchips, and spay and neuter costs. Some of this is recovered through adoption fees, however, medicines and vet bills can add up quickly. As a result of last year's donations, we were able to take in additional medical cases and save more lives.

It takes lots of things to keep orphaned animals going. In the first stages, it's formula, bottles, blankets. Then into grower stage where the need is litter and puppy pads, learning to eat kibble, toys, carriers, and more toys.
