Musical Mayhem Productions, Inc. proudly opened its doors in June of 2012 and has successfully produced over 150 Broadway Jr. and Kids performance workshops in Elk Grove and Sacramento. Our first production, Disney's The Jungle Book, had nine cast members and performed four shows for about 500 audience members. Our largest production to date, Disney Frozen, Jr., had 123 cast members and reached over 4,000 audience members for its six show run!
MMP has produced over 120 Broadway Series Workshops since 2012. MMP is also highly involved with local elementary schools; producing school musicals as a third party to fill the lack of performing arts education mostly victim to budget cuts. Since 2012, MMP has produced over 50 school shows, including 30 Home School workshops which cater specifically to Home Schooled students. As an approved vendor to many Charter Schools, we are able to offer Musical Theater Education programs in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area.
Our Master Academy, which meets twice weekly for 11 months, is the premier program for Musical Theater Education. Our focus is Acting, Singing, and Dance in order to prepare for excellence in Performing Arts. Each level of Master Academy participates in Educational trips to Disneyland, Disney World, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, New York City, and the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta and Sacramento, where we've received national recognition for Excellence in Music, Ensemble Work, Acting, and most recently, Outstanding Performance for our 15 minute edit of Disney Newsies, Jr. at JTF Atlanta in January 2024. Our Seniors are currently applying to the best Musical Theater programs in the Country, and we hope to continue to produce talented and confident individuals for years to come.
In 2019, Musical Mayhem Productions was selected as a Pilot program for newly adapted Broadway Jr. shows by Musical Theatre International (MTI), the leading rights company for youth theatre. As a Pilot program, we are asked to produce new adaptations of Broadway Shows destined for the Junior catalog before they are released to the general public. iTheatrics takes the full content from the Broadway show and adapts it to be suitable for young performers. In the summer of 2019, MMP completed its first Pilot, The Drowsy Chaperone, Jr. and after a 2 year hold due to Covid-19, finally produced the pilot production of 13, The Musical, Jr in the summer of 2022. In the summer of 2022, Concord Theatricals selected us to pilot produce Cats, Jr. which was performed as a summer camp that concluded in a very successful production of the classic musical. Other Pilot Productions MMP has produces are Shrek, Kids, 9 to 5, Jr., Hans Christian Anderson, Jr. and currently are working on DreamWorks How To Train Your Dragon, Jr. Pilot Production - where Executives and Authors from New York and Los Angeles will attend in person right here in Elk Grove! The Pilot Productions are filmed and shown to the authors to ensure the content is still true to how they originally intended before it is released to the general public for licensing - an amazing opportunity Musical Mayhem's staff has provided for their students!
On top of producing 20 Workshops a season, and countless dance/acting classes, Musical Mayhem Productions understands the importance of giving back to the community. Each year, our level 4 Master Academy creates "The Gift of Theatre" night which benefits a local charity. Past recipients have included youth pajama collection for "A Snuggle From Grammy", art supplies donations were collected for The Sacramento Children's Home, and most recently over 700 new childrens books were collected and donated to UC Davis Childrens Hospital.
Musical Mayhem Productions is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit corporation in Elk Grove, CA that provides quality theater education for children and special needs adults through rehearsal and workshop classes. The educational classes enrich participants by expanding creativity and enhancing confidence while conveying the importance of Theater Arts to the community through educational, fun, and entertaining performances.
