River City Food Bank (RCFB) alleviates hunger in Sacramento County by providing consistent access to healthy, meaningful food for all.

Established in 1968, River City Food Bank is Sacramento’s oldest, continuously operating food bank, known for resilience and deep community support.  For 57 years, we have served as a lifeline, providing stability and dignity to those in need, including low-income families, college students, children, seniors, refugees/asylum-seekers, individuals living with disabilities, and those facing homelessness.

Everyone is welcome.

In 2024, with the help of more than 5,000 dedicated volunteers, RCFB distributed 3.48 million pounds of healthy food to more than 327,000 people facing food insecurity, offering essential resources through emergency food and CalFresh assistance.

Your donation to River City Food Bank is more than food—it’s stability. It’s a child going to school ready to learn, a senior maintaining their independence, and a family staying housed during tough times. Together, we can prevent hunger and build a stronger, more resilient Sacramento.

Donate today and be a part of something truly impactful.

Giving Activity

Mission

River City Food Bank's mission is to alleviate hunger in Sacramento County by providing consistent access to healthy, meaningful food for all.

Needs

1. Unrestricted support- this allows RCFB to purchase healthy foods such as fresh produce, and support the community needs as they change throughout the year. For every $2 donated, a neighbor facing hunger receives 1 healthy meal.

2. Event Sponsorship- RCFB hosts one fundraiser each year called Empty Bowls. The funding raised from this event provides critical support for our programs, including the purchase and distribution of fresh, seasonal groceries four times per week.

3. Volunteers- RCFB would not be able to do the work that we do without the hard work and dedication of more than 5000 volunteers each year. Click here to sign up today: https://rivercityfoodbank.org/volunteer-your-time/
