Having just completed its 34th season, the River City Theatre Company (RCTC) started in 1990 when a well known dance choreographer, Ron Cisneros, and Co-Founder parent, John Iniguez, came together to create an organization that would allow children ages 6-18, from 1st through 12th grades to perform classical and new musicals without having to audition. What a great concept! Join and you could be on stage!
What started as a small organization has become a well-known sustainable theatre organization in Sacramento that continues today. RCTC performs at least two productions each year, or at least 20 performances, for audiences close to 3,000 annually.
In November 2024, RCTC opened its season performing two theatrical musicals almost simultaneously--Chicago the Musical for high school level kids, and Disney's Aladdin Jr. for younger kids. In Spring 2025 (April 2025), RCTC successfully performed Percy Jackson's The Lightning Thief. It was a fabulous production. RCTC also performed school field trips performances to public and private school students of each production--four for Disney's Aladdin Jr., and four school field trip performances for Percy Jackson's The Lightning Thief. Both productions were at the Natomas High School auditorium.
In Fall 2025, RCTC plans to perform Rodgers+Hammerstein's Cinderella (rights pending), and in Spring 2026, Hello Dolly! (rights pending).
RCTC is thrilled to continue serving the theatrical needs and desires of young people in the four-county Sacramento metropolitan area of Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo counties.
