$60,000 Goal

At Stanford Sierra Youth & Families (SSYAF), we have been committed to permanency and the empowerment of youth and families since 1900.

We believe each and every child deserves the love, safety, and unconditional commitment of a family and the opportunity to develop as a healthy and happy young adult.

Through a continuum of care, we empower youth and families to overcome challenges together, as well as connect youth in foster care to the permanent loving families they need and deserve. We support the entire family with professional treatment and compassionate care, so every youth has the opportunity to thrive at home, in school, and in the community.

Within our programs, SSYAF serves over 2,437 youth annually. Comprehensive services and support are extended to their siblings and caregivers, creating a broader reach of a combined 6,093 youth and families served throughout Northern California counties.

In the fiscal year 2022-2023:

- 122 foster youth were placed with stable, loving Resource Families capable of providing them with the unconditional support all children need and deserve.

- 191 connections for foster youth were discovered for youth in our Destination Family program.

- 72 youth impacted by foster care and their mentors were matched in our Wonder Mentoring program.

- 1,597 youth were served in our mental health programs, helping them heal from trauma, manage their emotions, do better in school, and thrive.

- 187 youth were served in our Juvenile Justice Intervention Services program, creating opportunities for positive youth development.

- 1,500 backpacks and school supplies were distributed to youth in need, helping to equip them with the essential tools they need to succeed.

Mission

Transforming lives by nurturing permanent connections and empowering families to solve challenges together, so every young person can thrive.

Needs

There are more than 3,000 youth in foster care in the Greater Sacramento Region. Each year we fight stigma, provide support, educate, and advocate for local youth and families. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to bring awareness and support for youth in foster care and other vulnerable children. Thanks to United Agencies, Inc., Nugget Markets, and Modern Woodmen up to $27,500 in donations will be matched!

Unrestricted funding is especially helpful, as it allows us to direct your support where it's most needed and can have the most impact.

We need safe, loving families for local youth in foster care. We ask that you open your heart and home to a child in foster care.

Equity Statement

At Stanford Sierra Youth & Families (SSYAF), we are committed to fostering a culture that celebrates and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion. This includes creating a workplace and environment that is welcoming and inclusive of different cultures, worldviews and lived experiences, and supporting the development and implementation of policies and practices that support all those we serve. We know that having varied perspectives and strong community partnerships help generate better ideas and outcomes and advances our mission.

We stand firmly against systemic and structural racism, white supremacy, prejudice, hatred and discrimination. We will address injustices and inequities that impact our staff, and the youth and families we serve, and listen to, and share power with marginalized communities.
