Yolo Farm to Fork

A nonprofit organization

At Yolo Farm to Fork, we believe in:

  1. Supporting edible school gardens.
  2. Providing garden-centered and farm-based education to students.
  3. Bringing locally grown farm-fresh food to school meals.
  4. Reducing waste through recycling and composting.

We cultivate children's taste for fresh, healthful produce by engaging them in the learning experiences that gardens offer. Our work especially focuses on schools serving low-income populations that are fighting childhood obesity.

Yolo Farm to Fork helps increase and sustain the number of edible school gardens in Yolo County, primarily Woodland and West Sacramento. We strive to raise school and community awareness of the health benefits and tastiness of recipes featuring fresh, nutritious garden produce.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our mission is to educate the public, especially our children, about the value of a farm-to-table community food system that also teaches us to value the environment.

Needs

Big Day of Giving 2025:

For the Big Day of Giving 2025, our goal is to raise $25,000 to send several Yolo County classrooms to "Go Visit a Farm!" this fall.

General Needs:

We are always looking to partner with local businesses to work together to create a healthier Yolo County community. Businesses may sponsor a specific school garden or make a general donation to our nonprofit.

We also welcome in-kind donations, including seeds, plants, tools, soil, bark, compost, and general garden equipment.

The majority of our funding comes from small donations, less than $100, made by individual donors. Our remaining program operating budget comes from local foundations.

Like to work with kids? Want to get your hands dirty? Volunteers are always needed. As a small non-profit, we could not do it without you.

We function on a very small overhead budget (less than 10%). Unrestricted funding allows us to operate as efficiently as possible, while also using the unrestricted funds to support garden grants and help with garden emergencies that periodically arise.

Local, passionate community members are welcome to join us. We continually recruit Board Members from every Yolo County community.

Equity Statement

We are dedicated to bringing locally grown farm-fresh food to school meals and to reducing waste through recycling and composting. We work with populations from all socioeconomic levels, and strive for equity in all that we do.
