Dear friends and family, as you well know, I am ever passionate about Meals on Wheels Yolo County.   Jeff and I continue to volunteer delivering meals; something that we find very rewarding.  We enjoy seeing our meal recipients and look forward to serving them a healthy meal on a regular basis.  I am currently proud to be serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors and want to be transparent about our present circumstances.  

These are challenging times!  I am asking for your compassionate consideration to give as much as you are able to sustain and support this worthy non-profit. 

Details to consider:

• Current threats to the federal Older Americans Act funding that accounts for 15% of the annual operating budget
• Loss of ~$600,000 annually in pandemic-era, one-time public funding; responsible for the tremendous 250% growth over the last three years; nourishing more than 1,000 seniors with 20,000 meals monthly from two institutional meal production facilities
• Presently even with recent staff downsizing we have a significant deficit.  So far, we have had no reduction in service.
• This year there is an even bigger focus upon a successful Big Day of Giving campaign in order to continue serving our food insecure seniors.
