The Pence Gallery is a non-profit organization located in the heart of downtown Davis. Founded in 1975, the Pence has been serving Yolo County and the Sacramento region for 50 years. I have been a staff member since 2019 and have been with the Pence through the ups and downs of these past years, from working through the challenges of the pandemic, to advocating for and rebooting the 2nd Friday ArtAbout which supports our local artists and businesses.
Unfortunately, the Pence has recently experienced an increase in vandalism and lost essential funds for our youth programs. This year, funds raised through Big Day of Giving will be used to directly address these two areas of great importance. Our goal is to upgrade our front doors for greater security (and ADA-compliant access) and raise funds to increase the frequency of our Art in Action family program from quarterly back to monthly. As a space not only for viewing art, but also for education and connecting with others, we want to protect the Pence so that we can continue to serve the community and future generations.
The Pence is a free admission gallery that offers a variety of high-caliber exhibits, programs, and events each year. With a small team of dedicated staff, this wouldn't be possible without the support of our community. I have seen the joy and creativity experienced by people of all ages at the gallery, and it is truly a special place. If you are able to donate for Big Day of Giving, no matter the amount, we would be so grateful. We have an overall goal of $30,000, but even reaching my individual fundraiser goal will help make a difference. Your contribution is a vital investment toward safeguarding the Pence Gallery!
