ExPANDING HOPE

xHope is a local nonprofit that walks alongside vulnerable youth and families in the Sacramento region — including foster youth, kinship placements, teens aging out of care, and families experiencing hardship. With the launch of their new xHope Hub facility, they’re growing their impact — and I’m helping them meet their bold goal of raising $100,000 to fuel that growth.

I have been volunteering for xHope for over two and a half years and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. There’s something powerful about showing up, giving time, and watching how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Every event and moment carries its own kind of magic, but there are two events that I really enjoy.  

1. Back-to-School Pick-Up Experience

This day is full of energy, joy, and sometimes even a few happy tears. Seeing kids light up when they get to pick out their own brand new outfit, shoes and their own backpacks filled with supplies reminds me how important it is to help kids start the school year with confidence. 

2. Holiday Bash

Volunteering at the Holiday Bash alongside my family and friends, where we had the privilege of supporting over 400 foster and vulnerable youth in our community, was truly inspiring and a blessing. Seeing the joy on each child’s face as they carefully chose their cozy pajamas, warm socks, a soft blanket, a cuddly stuffed animal, and a Christmas toy is a heartwarming experience.

But what truly makes this experience unforgettable is seeing how much love and gratitude these kids carry in their hearts. Even in receiving, they are eager to give—each child has the chance to choose a gift for their caregiver. It’s a beautiful reminder that the spirit of the season isn’t just about what we receive, but about the joy we find in giving back.

This is more than a fundraiser — it’s an opportunity to be part of something BIGGER. Together, we can meet essential needs, create joyful memories, and offer real hope to youth who need it most.
