Greetings, Friends & Family:
I invite you to consider contributing to Sacramento-based Safe Black Space (SBS), a community service organization founded in response to the killing of 22 year-old Stephon Clark by Sacramento police in 2018.
The essential work of providing an environment in which Black well-being is centered and men, women, and children can find emotional safety, support, healing, and a sense of community continues to this day. As a non-profit organization SBS needs your financial assistance, and the Big Day of Giving is a great opportunity for you to help support its work, which is especially needed in these challenging times.
For those of you who know me, you're probably already aware that I have dedicated my career to mentoring and educating young people about the experience and the culture of African Americans for more than 25 years at the University of California, Davis. You may (or may not) also know that my “assignment” has not only been a career or job for me but, more importantly, it has been a meaningful way of rendering service to the Community. More recently I have become part of the SBS "village" because I wish to extend my influence and commitment to serving the Black community beyond the confines of what I can do as a university professor and administrator.
I have personally received so much from my association with Safe Black Space, and if its mission resonates with you, please donate whatever you can to help make sure its work continues now and into the future.
Sincerely and in Community,
Milmon F. Harrison, PhD (aka "DrMilmon")
*Please note: you do NOT have to wait until May 2, 205 when the official BDOG takes place; your donations are welcome today!
