Did you know...studies show that people of African ancestry are negatively impacted by anti-Blackness and that culturally grounded, African-centered healing circles and practices such as those provided by Safe Black Space help equip Black people with tools and strategies to cope?
Safe Black Space emerged in 2018 following the tragic killing of Stephon Clark by Sacramento Police Officers. Safe Black Space began facilitating Community Healing Circles seven years ago and have since expanded our offerings to include African Drum Circles, Book Study Groups, an annual Kwanzaa Kutoa (Giving) Celebration, in addition to Outreach and Educational Workshops.
Safe Black Space has supported over 2,500 community members. We have earned local and national recognition because of our success in addressing Black racial stress and trauma and our dedication to community wellness, healing, and empowerment.
Yet in the current political climate, the work of Safe Black Space iis being questioned and funding is being cut. It will take personal efforts to keep organizations like ours funded and functioning. Will you help us - help us?
Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all.
