Empower women and girls!

Dear Friends and Family, 

As efforts intensify to restrict education, healthcare and civil rights, women and girls will be disproportionately impacted. It's critical to stand up as a community to support women and girls. That time is now.

Soroptimist International of Davis (SI Davis) was chartered more than 70 years ago and is part of a global organization dedicated to the education and economic empowerment of women and girls. Thanks to generous donations like yours, this year SI Davis: 

• provided $12,000 in Live Your Dream awards
• awarded $8,000 in local high school scholarships 
• mentored young women at King High School through the Dream It, Be It program
• awarded Thriving Pink over $3,200 and partnered with them at our annual Soup Auction fundraiser
• provided backpacks and hygiene kits for women escaping domestic violence and sex trafficking
• participated in hands-on community service across Yolo County
• contributed to the Soroptimist President's Appeal which is a global project to support women and girls 

Live Your Dream award recipients are female heads of household supporting their family members. Many recipients have lived through challenges and situations that have impacted their ability to pursue their dreams and this award helps them pursue their educational or vocational school goals. Despite significant challenges, this year's top recipient is pursuing her goal of becoming a nurse to improve her life and the lives of her four children. 

Participants in the Dream It, Be It program receive career mentoring and learn job skills over the course of an academic year, while high school scholarships are given to students who have experienced and overcome hardships. SI Davis also partners with community agencies that provide services to women and girls and shares part of the proceeds from our annual Soup Auction fundraiser.
