Farrah's and Ginger's Favorite Place! Project Lifelong is a unique youth platform with passionate founders and staff doing important work to teach girls, boys, and non-binary students how to skateboard. This year we have Skate Nights scheduled for middle schoolers across 3 locations, INCLUDING Will C. Wood! Our new SCUSD Campus!

Sacramento doesn’t have any support for our youth who are interested in individual sports like skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding. These sports get stigmatized with a negative subculture that kids start to understand at a young age. And if you’re female, you aren’t even included in the stereotype of a skater.

Girls feel invisible in outdoor non-traditional sports. Local skate parks serve the gamut of boarders and are unorganized and unsupervised which tends to harbor a lot of alcohol use and vandalism, it’s not a safe place for youth to practice. Without any positive reinforcement, kids who want to skate start to identify their talent as negative or belonging to a subculture that doesn’t value a healthy or successful lifestyle.

Project Lifelong intentionally fills this gap for our youth, teaching them the lifelong skills that they deserve to learn alongside of their peers as they participate in curated experiences designed to give them positive coaching, support and confidence building. Younger participants, have the room to grow and experience positive connection at skate nights where they are welcomed, celebrated and encouraged to excel in board sports in a safe environment.

Athletically they build confidence as board sports require speed, practice and self determination to excel. As they enter High school, like my daughter Farrah, Project Lifelong  programming turns into mentorship, and road trips as a team allow access for our youth to experience nature. She just went snowboarding for the first time! They make lifelong memories hiking, snowboarding and surfing together. They build ramps, play musical instruments and express themselves without the negative peer pressure or unsafe situations they might experience with street skating or at local parks.

This is why I donate to Project Lifelong and believe in its mission. The funds raised make this youth sports platform for Sacramento work. Every trip is paid for through the program so students can all afford to attend. Seasonal fees for parents are a fraction of what traditional organized sports are so that ANY kid can participate and receive continued support through their journey into adulthood. The opportunities that Farrah has had to try surfing, snowboarding, 4x4ing, snow-shoeing and skating on a team have been invaluable and without fundraising, she would not have had these opportunities.

Please join me in donating to our happy place!!! Big Money - No Whammies! I joined this board for a reason - help me make it great!
