How I've Been Involved with The Root:
The Root gave me the opportunity to prioritize my physical and mental health during my pregnancy through prenatal yoga classes, childbirth education, and additional classes to prepare for postpartum, breastfeeding, and life with a newborn. Taking care of myself in these ways allowed me to take the best care of my child during pregnancy and postpartum.
After my son was born, the friendships I made in the community of other parents at The Root were integral to my well-being as a new mom. My son is five years old now and I still have close connections with several of the parents and families I met at The Root. This has been a major part of my ongoing "village" as a parent.
Why I'm Supporting The Root's continued Sustainability and Expanded Services:
I believe that access to these programs should be available to everyone in our region, regardless of financial ability or ability to travel. For those reasons, I support The Root's mission to provide low- and no-cost services to folks, and to provide services at additional locations around the region.
Note From The Root Team:
This Big Day of Giving we are hoping to raise a total of $10,000 to put towards programming for our non-profit to offer class vouchers to the constituents of our partners at the Valley Hi, Meadowview and La Familia family resource centers. In addition this campaign will allow us to continue our programming at The Root's flagship location in East Sacramento in addition to supporting our continued pilot of pop-up classes throughout Sacramento both at the family resource centers and other community locations.
No parent should go into their birth and postpartum journeys without feeling equipped to navigate the complex perinatal systems in our area.
It is our goal that every pregnant family in Sacramento have access to the fitness, educational and community supports that The Root provides, without cost being a barrier.
