In January we were selected to receive the Yosemite Campground Lottery program from the National Park Service (NPS). We were selected for this lottery and have secured a group campsite reservation for one weekend this season. This program is specifically for culturally / ethnically diverse advocacy groups to empower underrepresented populations who would otherwise have barriers to outdoor access, so we're empowering BIPOC families in our area to reconnect with nature.
The communities that we serve do not get opportunities to recreate or spend quality time outdoors at state/national parks, especially those of color from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our participation in this program will allow us to increase the opportunities to visit Yosemite for families who otherwise would not be able to do so. It would be immensely valuable and meaningful to be able to participate in this amazing resource and opportunity.
