Placer County celebrates a thriving community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and non-binary people. Our general meetings are full of laughter and connection building. Oh yeah, and snacks.

My name's JT, and this is my story.

PFLAG has been in my life longer than I've been alive. When my grandmother was asked about how she responded to two of her daughters coming out in the 80s, she'd say "You're a mom. You love your kids." She found PFLAG and she would even go on to serve a term as President of her county's PFLAG chapter. During that time, she helped other parents and friends find understanding and joy in their gay, lesbian, and trans loved ones.

My aunts went on to have wives and children of their own, and those children have grown up surrounded by words and hearts that made it easy to look past what others said they should be and see people for the content of their character. My cousins enjoy rich lives supported in their chosen identities

Through my gramma and my aunties, I've seen countless demonstrations, rallies and marches calling for recognition and understanding of queer identities. I've stood on the front lines at protests. And while I've always seen myself as an ally, I joined the community when I fell in love with a transman.

I'm lucky. Not everyone's family surrounds them with the love and courage to face the world like mine did. There are a lot of mothers, fathers, and parents,   brothers, sisters, and siblings who walk through this world in silence and fear.

Today, trans people have been targeted with cruel policies designed to take away their identities, the spaces where they find joy, and even their lives.

It's clear that in these difficult times, PFLAGs mission has never been more important. Please keep PFLAG in your plan for charitable giving.

Every dollar of your donation goes to providing a safe space for families to gather to support their queer loved ones. To supporting our community through meaningful presentations about our history, sponsoring public events, advocating for our rights against discriminatory policies and laws, and giving support to our members and guests who need it.

Please, help us create a world where every LGBTQ+ person is safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved.
