Honoring the Mayfly for BDOG 2024

$5,577

raised by 17 people

$10,000 goal

This Big Day of Giving, we are honoring the mayfly. You may ask, why are we celebrating this little creature that lives in creeks and rivers? After reading dozens of thank you letters from our students, it was one of their favorite things to collect and study on field days. Adair reported back that he caught eight snails, one aquatic worm and saw dozens of mayfly larvae at William B. Pond. Tyler provided significant detail in his illustration depicting a mayfly nymph after spending the day with us at the river.

Kailani has shared in a letter to us that “my favorite thing I caught on my field trip was the mayfly larva.” These micro-moments of learning in nature can positively impact our future and the health of our ecosystem.

Your generous support to our Student Scholarship Fund will be a ray of sunshine on our outdoor education programs, illuminating possibilities and growth for countless young minds.

With your donation, you’re not just giving funds; you’re nurturing curiosity, fostering connections with nature, and empowering youth to become stewards of our planet. Every step they take in the great outdoors is a step towards a brighter, more sustainable future – and you’re right there beside them, guiding the way with your continued generosity.

From all of us at Sierra Nevada Journeys, we thank you for believing in the power of outdoor education.

With heartfelt appreciation,
