Morgan’s Story:

I’m a senior at ORHS and I’ve been with hands4hope since I moved here two years ago. I’ve met the most amazing peers and mentors, as well as given so many opportunities that have been genuinely life changing. I’ve been a leader, assisted on committees, and been involved in my community on big and small projects. I’ve developed skills such as effective communication and problem solving, which have been essential not just as a volunteer but in all aspects of my life. My most favorite part, however, is meeting peers and members of my community. Through Hands4Hope, I’ve personally reached more people than I ever thought I could, and my interactions with them have stuck with me and are what motivate me to do more. This organization is so wonderful and has really pushed me to be the best version of myself while also being so essential to people in our community. Please consider donating, as it’d give more people the chance to grow and change lives.

Tracey’s Story:

I recently joined Hands4Hope as an adult volunteer and I am really excited to work with our area’s youth.  What is so special for me specifically is the opportunity for our youth to gain leadership skills, project management skills, communication and public speaking skills at such an early age.  This will help our youth thrive in college and their careers throughout their lives and I wish I had had this opportunity when I was younger.  I am truly looking forward to joining our youth in many of the events held throughout the year and learn and grow myself.  I am passionate about giving back to  our community and supporting Hands4Hope in their mission to empower youth to become leaders and change-makers. 

These young people are truly awe-inspiring!  I love that Hands4Hope youth come from all different backgrounds and experiences. Inclusion is a key value of Hands4Hope which creates a welcoming, engaging, and safe environment for all. As a result, Hands4Hope provides opportunities for youth to discover their passion and purpose.

About the Organization:

Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference is a non-profit, youth-driven organization based in the El Dorado and Sacramento county regions. Their mission is to inspire and empower youth in leadership and service. Through this organization, youth gain awareness of and have the opportunity to explore areas of need in their communities, as well as creating and implementing projects that make an impact for their chosen cause.

Impact of your Donation:

$50 = Provides material for two no-sew fleece blanket sets to create and distribute during the Winter Boutique OR an elementary or middle school student with a new backpack filled with school supplies

$100 = Funds meal to serve 10-15 residents at Sister Nora's Place OR a high school student with a new backpack filled with school supplies (including a Scientific calculator)

$200 = Supplemental food for two monthly dinners prepared for seniors at low-income senior housing facility (average 55 meals)

$500 = Sponsors participation in a three-day leadership camp for one youth OR funds 400 meals for those in need

$1,500 = Funds the operation of Placerville Youth Center and Emergency Food Pantry for one month (not including staffing)

$3,000 = Funds one school-based service-learning Hands4Hope Club for half a year

$6,000 = Funds one school-based service-learning Hands4Hope Club for one year
