About 30 years ago, I joined the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California because of their amazing mission to enrich, preserve and promote our Mexican heritage, culture, art, history and traditions through education and community events, I currently have the honor to serve as their Vice-President.
Some of these events include Día de la Bandera, which is held at Sutter's Fort, where students from local elementary schools attend and are exposed to the Fort's cultural and historical significance. Annually, on September 15th, we organize El Grito de Dolores (Cry of Mexican Independence) and it is held at the West Steps of the California State Capitol with thousands in attendance. Reina Fiestas Patrias Pageant will be held during the month of August, giving young ladies and opportunity to participate and learn skills such as public speaking and more. The top three candidates receive scholarships to help them continue with their higher education.
We also collaborate with other local organizations on various celebrations such as Día del Niño, Día de los Muertos and many more.
One of the most rewarding events is the IME Scholarship Award Ceremony held in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate, Cien Amigos and Cien Amigos Education Fund and providing so far over one million dollars in scholarships since 2012 to hundreds of deserving low-income Latino students from the Sacramento Region. During this event you can see the pride in the parents and the gratitude of the students receiving the scholarships.
Will you help me to raise funds to continue the important work of the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California.?
Any amount will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you!
