Yolo County Library Foundation is a volunteer-led, 501c3 organization created to support the Yolo County Library, providing system-wide financial aid across all branches because every Yolo County resident deserves equitable access to library services, materials, and literacy.
Since 2016, the Yolo County Library Foundation has funded child and adult literacy materials and programs aimed at aiding the most underserved Yolo County residents across all 8 branch libraries.
This year, we will be giving away books distributed through the library’s new bookmobile! The new bookmobile will focus on rural areas in Yolo County not served by physical branches, including Dunnigan, Zamora, Capay Valley, and the Bryte and Broderick areas of West Sacramento, as well as the Davis and Madison Migrant Centers.
Our 4 Funding Priorities Are:
1. Early Literacy Programming– so children read for life!
2. Early Literacy Toolkits– to start home libraries for families!
3. Summer and Winter Reading Programs
4. English Language Learning programs
Currently, only 48% of Yolo County children read at grade level by 3rd grade.
“The single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school.”
- National Commission on Reading
By giving away books through the new Yolo County Library Bookmobile, we are building home libraries and improving book access. Homes that have books are more likely to have readers.
In 2023, with your support, YCLF donated $31,082.31 in giveaway books.
Help us give even more in 2024!
Please donate to the Yolo County Library Foundation during the Big Day of Giving to support building home libraries for Yolo County’s most remote and underserved residents.
