Starting Point is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization founded by a local educator inspired by her refugee students' stories about strength, perseverance, and hope.  Our mission is to support refugee children with basic necessities and programs as they resettle in the Greater Sacramento Area. Since our 2017 launch, Starting Point has assisted 4500+ refugee children from around the world

Mission

Starting Point supports refugee children with basic necessities and programs as they begin their new lives in the Greater Sacramento Area.

Needs

Clothing Events: Twice a year we set up shops in the heart of the refugee community and provide new clothing, hygiene products, and more so our young newcomers are prepared and comfortable for their very first winter or summer here.

Starting Point Welcome Baskets: Refugee families arrive in the U.S. with very few possessions as they begin their new lives. Our welcome baskets filled with basic household items help change their apartment into their first home. Starting Point distributes nearly 200 baskets each year.
